BSides Pittsburgh was founded sharing the philosophy of fellow BSides events: a community organized event to come together to learn, share, and network.

A fundamental requirement for achieving this goal is a respectful environment.  Insults and harassment are unacceptable. This includes intimidation and/or targeting an individual in a manner that makes them feel unwelcome.  Harassment does not include discussing opposing viewpoints in a civil manner.

Participants asked to stop harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. BSides Pittsburgh volunteers reserve the right to respond to harassment in the manner we deem appropriate, including expulsion from the event, and referral to the relevant authorities.

This Code of Conduct applies to everyone participating in BSides Pittsburgh, including planners, attendees, speakers, and volunteers.

If you experience or witness behavior conflicting with our code of conduct, please contact a volunteer or venue staff. Both BSides Pittsburgh volunteers and the venue staff will be happy to assist. Reporting can also be done by emailing ethics@bsidespgh.com. All email reports are treated with the utmost sensitivity and are solely reviewed by BSidesPGH / Burgh Security Events leadership team of Joe Wynn, Jon Zeolla, and Andy Gish-Johnson.
